UPPER SAUCON TWP., Pa. —Signing Day isn’t just for athletes. SkillsUSA Council on Friday (May 10) hosted its annual District 11 Signing Day at DeSales University.
More than two dozen Lehigh Career & Technical Institute seniors who plan to attend college, go to work or serve in the military after high school were recognized during the event. Students from Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School, Career Institute of Technology, Monroe Career & Technical Institute and Upper Bucks Career & Technical School also participated in the ceremony.
Jaden Barasch, a Parkland High School senior in the Electrical Technology program at LCTI, served as the event’s student speaker. Dr. Lisa Greenawalt, LCTI’s executive director, was on hand to announce the names of this year’s signees. They are:
• Melody Baez Martinez, a William Allen High School senior in the Painting & Design program who is attending Lehigh Carbon Community College.
• Jaden Barasch, a Parkland High School senior in the Electrical Technology program who is employed by West Side Hammer Electric and plans to join IBEW Local Union 375.
• Doris Bozali, a Whitehall High School senior in the Criminal Justice program who is attending DeSales University and serving in the National Guard.
• Dean Corio Jr., a Northwestern Lehigh High School senior in the Diesel Medium & Heavy Truck Technology program who is attending the University of Northwestern Ohio.
• Jonas Geiger, a Parkland High School senior in the Carpentry program who is employed by Sorensen Construction.
• Davyn Hankee, a Northern Lehigh High School senior in the Masonry program who is attending Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology.
• Riley Knecht, a Salisbury High School senior in the Health & Medical Sciences program who is attending Messiah University.
• Zoe Kuchera, a Whitehall High School senior in the Health & Medical Sciences program who is employed by Newhard Pharmacy and attending Lehigh Carbon Community College.
• Chad Moyer, a Northwestern Lehigh High School senior in the Electronics Technology program who is employed by Lutron Electronics Co., Inc.
• Daniel Riggins, a Northwestern Lehigh High School senior in the Precision Machine Tool Technology program who is attending Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology.
• Andrew Sawyer, a Northwestern Lehigh High School senior in the Auto Technology program who is employed by Haldeman Ford of Kutztown.
• Kendall Swauger, a Southern Lehigh High School senior in the Health & Medical Sciences program who is attending Northampton Community College.
• Jada Zapata, a William Allen High School senior in the Office Systems Technology program who is attending Lehigh Carbon Community College.
