Class of 2024: Parkland senior wins Career Academy award

Congratulations, schoolwide award winner Kayla Ruedas!

ALLENTOWN, Pa. | Lehigh Career & Technical Institute’s Career Academy program, or CAP, is designed with the goal of helping students overcome challenges and meet their full potential. Seniors who embrace that goal leave LCTI primed for success in the next stage of their lives.

The 2024 Outstanding CAP Senior Award winner is Kayla Ruedas. Student Services Director Sean Will honored the South Whitehall Township resident on Wednesday (May 29, 2024) at PPL Center during the school’s Class of 2024 Senior Recognition Night. The prestigious, schoolwide award was one of six presented at the ceremony.

Kayla is a Parkland High School student in LCTI’s Dental Technology program and Academic Center. Her program teacher, Eva Galus, describes the 18-year-old as a focused team player who is always willing to help her peers. Ms. Galus says Kayla is a wonderful ambassador for the dental program and LCTI; she has appeared in multiple promotional videos and led fifth-grade tour activities.

Kayla found tremendous success in LCTI’s Capstone cooperative education program. She works at Lehigh Valley Smile Designs and School to Career Coordinator Stephanie Barto said, “They absolutely love her there.”

Kayla plans to continue her employment at the dental practice after graduation.
