Congratulations, schoolwide award winner Ashley Chila!

ALLENTOWN, Pa. |A career and technical service organization, or CTSO, is a co-curricular club where students develop leadership skills and test their technical prowess through competitive events.

This year’s CTSO leadership award winner is Ashley Chila, an Allentown Central Catholic High School senior in our Computer Information Technology program. The 18-year-old Allentown resident is a member of FBLA, one of seven CTSOs at LCTI. FBLA inspires and prepares students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences.

Kelly Cahoon, LCTI’s director of curriculum and instruction, honored Ashley on Wednesday (May 29, 2024) at PPL Center during the school’s Class of 2024 Senior Recognition Night. The prestigious, schoolwide award was one of six presented at the ceremony.

Ashley represented LCTI at regional and state FBLA competitions for three consecutive years. In 2023, she qualified for nationals in Atlanta and is going to nationals again this summer in Orlando.

During her two-year tenure as president, Ashley guided LCTI FBLA to champion chapter silver and gold titles in 2023 and 2024, respectively. Also under her leadership, LCTI’s chapter won Pennsylvania FBLA’s prestigious Hollis & Kitty Guy Award.

Ashley completed more than 120 hours of community service in the Lehigh Valley and abroad. For this, she earned a spot on the FBLA “Big 33” list of most active volunteers in the state. Throughout her senior year, Ashley worked for Shawn Leh State Farm in Upper Macungie Township through LCTI’s cooperative education program.

She’s heading to Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg this fall to study cybersecurity. Ashley’s long-term goal is to enhance the security of automotive technology without undercutting usability.
